The Story Behind the Store
On May 8th, 1979, Jim Mascotti purchased Palmer’s Hardware. One lap around the store was all it took for him to know this was his future. What started as a small neighborhood hardware store soon became a cherished part of St. Petersburg’s identity.
Generations of Grit and Gratitude
Over the past 40+ years, Palmer’s has grown in space and spirit. Jim expanded the store, brought the piping inside, and filled every shelf with essentials and oddities alike. Today, Palmer’s is as much about community as it is about tools. We’ve hosted tradespeople of all kinds—plumbers, carpenters, machinists, and DIYers—each one adding a chapter to our story.
My father didn’t just run a store—he built a legacy. His philosophy was simple: help people solve problems they thought were impossible. That mindset remains at our core. We still believe in listening, problem-solving, and saying “yes” as often as we can.
Palmer’s Hardware is a living museum filled with memories, elbow grease, and heartfelt thanks to every customer that walks through our door.
Thank you for your continued support!
